Praying for Church leaders

Scripture

⁵ For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you— ⁶ if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. ⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, ⁸ but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, ⁹ holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.

²³ So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

Acts 14:23

Ordained and lay ministry for the church originated from the Bible. We see that Paul was clear about ensuring that the local churches had ordained leadership. There were others who helped those who were called to lead. These were supportive leaders helping those in office to accomplish the tasks required to keep the work going and growing. (see Acts 7)

Prayer Points

• Praise God for His wisdom in calling certain individuals and equipping them with gifts for the ministry.
  
• Pray for the Grace and Peace of God to be multiplied over every church leader and their families in our city.
  
• Pray divine protection, provision and promotion for those who serve in supportive roles for pastors and other leaders.
  

Sample Prayer

Jesus Son of the Living God,

I thank you for calling some among Your followers and equipping them to be Prophets, Apostles, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelists. These individuals are gifts from you to your body. Today I pray that they will be full of your Spirit.

I pray that they will be full of your wisdom. Guess their hearts and their minds so that the passion they have for your Kingdom will not fail. I stand against the plans and devices of satanic forces over church and parachurch ministry leaders. I pray for deeper understanding of Your purpose. Increase spiritual agility and effectiveness for your glory. Let souls be saved and sustained through the preaching of the gospel.

For as many who are now feeling drained and tired to the point of even questioning their call, Lord bring a fresh revelation of your call and purpose for them. Let them receive a fresh encounter with your Spirit. Bring clarity where arrows of confusion have found their mark.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing and bringing about great change.
