Jesus

Who is He?

You’ve heard of Him. You’ve probably seen movies featuring Him. Many will say He was just a good man who did good works. But was He more than that?

Contrary to the soft-spoken type of man that many think Jesus was, Jesus made some pretty bold claims.

He said things like, “If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me.” John 12:44

He also told His followers, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

These don’t seem like the words of just a “good man.” He either is something more than that or He was a liar.

More than that, if He truly is something more – what was He referring to when He said, “I am the Way”?

‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’

John 14:6 NLT

If you’ve flipped open a Bible before, you’ll find that this book of books begins with the story of the beginning – the beginning of everything.

We read about the creation of the earth, sun, moon and stars. Then we come to the creation of mankind.

Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created mankind in His own image. He created mankind perfect, without sin, and more importantly, He created mankind to walk and talk with God and live forever. Death had no place in God’s original design.

‘So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.’

Genesis 1:27 NLT

Unfortunately, this isn’t how things remained. Adam and Eve sinned and disobeyed God’s instructions. As a result, they began to hide themselves from God in the shame of their sin.

From that day forward, the freely available relationship mankind had with God became disrupted and severed and Adam and Eve began to walk through life separated from the One who created them.

Mankind has been hiding ourselves from God ever since.

What Can He Do For You?

Jesus came to fix all this. He came to be the bridge between mankind and God. He came to fix the relationship that had become broken. He came to remove the shame of sin and the shame of falling short far away from us

Jesus, the Son of God, walked the earth as a man. He taught the people, healed the sick, raised the dead and gave us an example to walk after.

And after he completed those things, He had one core mission left to do:

He died for our sins.

The payment of His life was the required payment needed to nullify the power that sin had over us.

As a result, if we only believe in Him, knowing that He is the One who made a way back to God for us, we can enter freely into a relationship with God again, as He had always intended.

The Bible tells us that the blood of Jesus that was shed for us, washes us from our sin, white as snow.

‘“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord . “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.’

Isaiah 1:18 NLT

This is what Jesus means when He says, “I am the Way.” There is no other way to God except through Jesus. He paid the ultimate price.

As amazing as all this is, it doesn’t stop there.

Jesus didn’t remain dead. Three days after His death, the scriptures tell us that He was raised back to life by the Spirit of God. He didn’t remain in the grave.

He then spent the next 40 days revealing Himself to different eye-witnesses, showing Himself alive. These would be the witnesses that would take the message of Jesus to the rest of the world. And that’s how we’re talking about this today, 2,000 years later.

This message wasn’t meant to become a story that came and went. No, this message was a message that had to reach the ends of the world. It was destined to. And it still is destined to today. God wants all His children restored to Him.

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

2 Peter 3:9 NLT

What Must You Do?

If you’re saying in your heart, “What then must I do?” The answer is simple: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

Acts 16:30-31 NLT

You can do this right now, right where you are. Simply say to Him:

“Lord Jesus, I believe that you died for me. I believe you are the way. Father God, I want to know and walk in a relationship with you.”

That’s it! Scripture tells us that when you believe in Jesus, and confess with your mouth that He is Lord, that you’re saved! You are now part of the family of God!
