The King’s Reset Day 15: We Have The Mind of Christ

Welcome to Day 15. Believe it or not, there are now 7 days to go. Let us make this last leg the best. Stay focused and finish strong in Jesus’ name.

The Scriptures teach that followers of Jesus have the mind of Christ.

For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

The mind is the faculty of the human spirit just like the brain is the faculty and processing center of the human body.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

Because your mind is the faculty of your spirit which in essence is the real you, true and lasting transformation begins within the human spirit. Any other sort of transformation such as the sudden prevalence of trans surgeries from male to female and vice versa that we see today is limited in scope and is a in fact a lie. While false science may attempt to manipulate biology for our own end, the consequences are always ruinous. There is also the transformation of our lives which occur because of the good effort we put into work in some form or another. An example is the result of eating healthy, exercise , taking deserved breaks, bringing in more income etc. All these can lead to some measure of outward transformation that are beneficial.

The most valuable of all transformations is that of the mind.

Why The Mind Needs Renewal

Adam and Eve were created in the image of God. After the fall Adam’s seed produced a lineage of humankind (“fallen kind”) rather than a God kind.

This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth

Genesis 5:1-3 NKJV

The “fallen” human race born of Adam and Eve carries a fallen human mind. The effect of original sin was the corruption of everything that God originally made pure. When we become born again our spirit is “made alive” unto God. We are no longer dead in trespasses and sins. However, our minds must be retrained to align with our new identity as God’s children. Peter likens new believers to newborn babes who must “desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby.” See 2 Peter 2:2

How to renew the mind |

Mind renewal is essentially a spiritual growth process as we mentioned previously in 2 Peter 2:2. Paul does a marvelous job in breaking down this process for us in Romans 12:1-2

The first thing we need to do is to present our bodies to God as a living sacrifice. Secondly, we must not be conformed to the world. What this implies is that we must put ourselves in environments that will help us do God’s will. One such environment is a season of fasting and prayer such as we are engaged in currently. Another is to immerse ourselves in meditating on the word of God allowing it to permeate our lives. Paul writes to the Colossians to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” Exposing ourselves to the word allows Jesus through the Holy Spirit speak directly to us bringing conviction, cleansing, healing, instruction, direction, power, and much more. Paul again makes this point clear in his letter to the church at Ephesus

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:25-27 NKJV

I am praying for myself and for you today that our minds be continually washed by the water of the word as we come to His word for sustenance.
