Day 9

False Christs and Prophets

Jesus was very clear, that there would be “false Christs” and false prophets arising to deceive as many as possible. Going deeper with the Lord in your relationship will protect you from the lies of the enemy’s cohorts. Friends look around and you will agree that there is indeed no shortage of falsehood going around in the name of Jesus.

²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ See, I have told you beforehand.

Matthew 24:24-25 NKJV

A false prophet is someone who sets out intentionally to deceive people. Please understand that a person may be in error and as such not a false prophet. However, if the error is not corrected it will lead them to cross over into living and practicing falsehood making them a false prophet. For an example of someone in error but not false please take a moment to read about a first-century minister of the Gospel named Apollos in Acts 18:24-28. Apollos was erroneous in teaching the Gospel. A sound Christian couple Priscilla and Aquila who were ministers working with Paul at the time pulled him gently aside and corrected the error. As always, God has not left us destitute because He has provided the tools we need through His Spirit to discern who and what is error or outrightly false.

Deeper In The Truth

“Deeper With Jesus” means we are intentional in moving closer in fellowship with the Truth. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me”

The first thing you must do in these times is to align yourself with the True one, that is Jesus Christ. How does anyone do that? Read about Him, meditate on His words, and worship Him when you are alone, and in the congregation of the saints all summarized in the words of James, “draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Create and maintain regularly scheduled times to meet with Him, to explore His love, wonder, and grace. Obey His word indeed. Be intentional with Jesus.

I learned that the fiat currency industry trains mint employees and bank workers on how to recognize counterfeit money by teaching them all the features of the original. While there can be many counterfeits that look, feel and even smell like the original there can only be one original with distinct features. Drawing near to Jesus in fellowship results in Him drawing near to you. Once you know the voice of the Original the voice of the thief no matter how masqueraded will raise check alarms in your spirit. His Spirit already lives in you.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. ² But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. ³ To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. ⁴ And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. ⁵ Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 

John 10:1-5 NKJV

If you ever have some angel or extraterrestrial being requesting your worship send that thing packing in Jesus’ Name for Jesus the Son of the Living God is the only one worthy of worship.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Revelation 19:10 NKJV

Testing Spirits

Jesus said, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.” You know the Original, you know His voice, and you are becoming more conversant with scripture. Amen, you won’t get it wrong!

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ² By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, ³ and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

1 John 4:1-3 NKJV

Last but not least check the fruit. Hear the Lord Jesus Himself on the value of fruit as a litmus test

¹⁵ “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. ¹⁶ You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

• Psalm 27. Give thanks to God for the completion of Day 8. Thank Him for making it to Day 9. Ask for continued strength to complete the fast for yourself and others embarking on this fast. Thank God for His answers in this regard.
• Matthew 6:9. Hallow (honor and respect greatly) His name. Let us Hallow Him with some of His names: Yahweh, Yahweh Jireh, Adonai, Yahweh-Maccaddeschem, Yahweh-Rohi, Yahweh-Shammah, Yahweh-Rapha. Would you call Him by those names and reflect on how He is indeed showing Himself in these names to you? • Matthew 6:10, Acts 10:1-8. The Lord’s will is that none should perish (see 2 Peter 2:9). Pray specifically for the Cornelius in our neighborhoods, that the Lord will miraculously guide them to the help they need and to come into the salvation that Jesus gives.
• Covenant within the Covenant: Are you moved to cut a special agreement for yourself from the Lord? Think about it. Pray about it.
• Matthew 6:11, Genesis 26:1-3 and 12. As groceries and other essentials increase in price due to inflation and getting worse pray that the Lord will provide as He did for Isaac in Gerar during a famine. Call Him the provider Yahweh Jireh as you pray.
• Matthew 6:12, Matthew 11:6. Have you forgiven anyone in the church that offended you? Release other Christians you may have a grudge against. Let it go in Jesus name!
• Matthew 6:13b, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. Pray against the lying false apostles roving the internet looking for gullible souls. Deliver you people from them, Lord Jesus! Here’s what I am confessing: “Father you are exposing the lies of false apostles because they cannot hide their fruit. Lord, you are leading people away from them and saving those souls who are sincerely looking for truth.”
• Matthew 6:13c, Revelation 5:8-10. Praise Him for His Kingdom, Power, and Dominion are forever. Glory Hallelujah!
