Day 7 – The Eagle Believer and Renewal

One of the interesting words in our anchor scripture from Isaiah 40:31 is the word “renew.” We are told that “they that wait on the Lord shall RENEW their strength…”. To renew means to make anew. One way of looking at it is to restart an activity after an interruption.

King David in 2 Samuel 11:1-5, chose to remain in Jerusalem at the usual time when kings go to battle. As a result of this abdication of responsibility, David fell into adulterous sin with a woman called Bathsheba. She became pregnant and informed David who panicked. The king arranged for the murder of her husband Uriah who was a soldier in the national army. After the death of Uriah, David sent for Bathsheba and married her.

The scriptures tell us that “what David did displeased the Lord.” And so Nathan the prophet was sent by God to confront David over this matter. Here is the eternal record of David’s response:

So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. 14 However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die.” 15 Then Nathan departed to his house.

2 Samuel 12:13-15 NKJV

David’s sin was grievous and the consequences to follow were also heavy. However, God in His inexplicable mercy forgave him and it is clear that David was able to forgive himself. We can tell because of how productive he was after. He wrote the famous Psalm 51 after the messy incident. If you read the story further you will find that Solomon who was the son to be born after the first one between them died, became the next King of Israel. Eagle Believers must accept God’s forgiveness fully by forgiving themselves. Why is this important? Because satan the accuser of the brethren lurks around seeking who he may devour with accusations.

satan’s accusations are spiritual warfare

The enemy’s continuous accusations dangling our past over us is targeted at weakening our resolve at serving God (waiting on God) through the creation of a guilt complex. Guilt complex is a weight and if you are weighed down you cannot renew your strength and therefore unable to mount up with wings like Eagles. When the enemy comes to harras you with any mistakes you have made that have now come under the shed blood of Christ through repentance, steadfastly RESIST him with scriptures. Here are two that will set him and his minions scurrying away from you:

“For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

Psalm 103:11-12 NKJV

17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

Hebrews 10:17 NKJV

This year we shall be Eagle Believers, like the one in our feature picture above. It appears so free from earthly entanglements against the glorious backdrop of the skies and sunlight. By our own faith confession, we will renew strength and put the evil accuser of the brethren where he belongs: eternally far behind us, under our feet, and never being able to get an advantage over us in Jesus Mighty Name.

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices

2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV
