Day 6 – Prayer & Fasting

Follow Jesus: The Truth Teller

Jesus said to him, “I am the waythe truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6 NKJV

38 Then He said to them in His teaching, “Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, 39 the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, 40 who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

Mark 12:38-40 NKJV

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:32 NKJV

Jesus was the quintessential truth teller. To His disciples He told them the truth about themselves. To the Pharisees and religious leaders of His day, He told of the judgement awaiting them. To everyone today who calls on Him He tells it as it is. While Jesus clearly demonstrated His Divinity on earth, healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing lepers, walking on water, calming the storm at His word, one thing that He was incapable of doing was lie. Jesus could not tell a lie. He will not tell a lie. He made it clear that the one who lies is the devil and he is the father of lies. I would rather follow the One Who cannot lie. The scriptures say in Numbers 23:19 God is not a man God is not a man, so he does not lie.” Will you commit to follow the One who cannot lie? He will never lie to you.

Follow Jesus because He is the Truth Teller and for that reason He can make you a truth teller. When we as believers begin to live or tell lies we are slowly being sucked in to satan’s web. Remember the scripture says satan is the “father of lies.” John 8.44

    Joshua Makanjuola says:

Living ones truth in Jesus is many times difficult in today’s society that condemns the Christian faith and the works of Jesus. In one of my university classes, when the lecturer asked what religion meant to people, 98% of the class nailed Christianity and Jesus to the wall and said many horrible things about Christianity. At a time like that, it was difficult to speak up my truth about my love for Jesus Christ, because I’ll stand out, but all these comments about Christianity was so uncomfortable to me, and I thank God for the grace to be able to speak out and say to the class how much peace, joy and happiness I find in following Christ.
