The King’s Reset II.

We have set apart all the Tuesdays in November (1, 8, 15, 22, and 29) for Fasting and Prayer with the theme “The Kings Reset.”

As earlier stated in the first post we must always remember that the King’s reset is more than a repair. A reset repairs and updates to the place it should have advanced to from the point of damage.

We also identified 6 key areas for reset as follows Heart, Hour, Hand, Home, Headship, and Holiness. In the course of meditating on the subject, two more have been added as follows: Holding and where we are Heading (direction), bringing the total to 8. There will be more on these last 2 reset items as we continue.

The Heart Reset

I heard a preacher years ago who said “the heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.” The word heart in this case describes the core of a human being and not the literal heart which is responsible for the pumping of blood throughout the body. Throughout scripture we see this to be consistent. We are a product of our thinking arising from our core. Jesus said:

“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.”

Matthew 15:18-19 NKJV

The prophet Jeremiah does not spare any words in describing the nature of fallen humanity’s heart.

“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”

Jeremiah 17:9-10 NKJV

Were it not for the grace of God, Jeremiah’s description is applicable to every one of us. Fallen man is helpless without Jesus who came to turn us from our ways to serve the Living God.

The Hour Reset

For people who have a job, we all know the importance of an hour as it relates to our work and how we get paid. The same applies to exercise schedules, travel time, and many other applications. An hour is an important unit of time and Jesus uses that in teaching prayer. He asks the famous question of His disciples

“Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?”

Matthew 26:40 NKJV

I believe that this same question is being asked of Jesus’ followers today. Praying congregationally or individually for an hour is not a common practice among many of today’s Christians, especially in North America. Prayer to God in Jesus’ name should become the default practice in every local church where Jesus is worshipped and adored. It should be the norm in our peer groups, small groups, and Christian homes between couples, parents, and children alike.

Reset Prayer

Let us use Deuteronomy 6:4 for our prayer

Hear O Israel, The Lord our God The Lord is One, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Deuteronomy 6:4 NKJV
  • Give thanks to God for the blessing of revelation He has given to us and for divine understanding
  • Praise Him for the power of His word in how He will reset our Heart and Hour towards Him
  • Walk through each of the “Heart” and “Hour” items above, praying and asking the King to RESET your heart and all our hearts towards Him to love Him enough to spend an hour with Him regularly.
  • Using Deuteronomy 6:4 ask the Lord to fill your heart with love for Jesus.

Next Tuesday we shall continue with the Hand and Home. Have a blessed day in Jesus’ name.
