I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews. 20 I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes. 21 I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.
Acts 20:19-24
22 “And now I am bound by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem. I don’t know what awaits me, 23 except that the Holy Spirit tells me in city after city that jail and suffering lie ahead. 24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
This scripture is “solid meat”… yes…. bring it on :). Doing Gods work comes with some pain, but that shouldn’t stop us. “Jews” plotted against Paul…. I shouldnt be surprised if a christian “plots” against me… its not new…but I pray against this :). Christians should not shy away from telling anyone about God. Our message should be “repent from your sins, turn to God and Jesus, the Good News and the wonderful Grace of God”. NOTHING and NO ONE should stop us or break our FAITH. Amen!
Amen to that one. It is indeed a reminder that we will face some difficult times but it is comforting that the winner is already known from the beginning. That enough should encourage our hearts to know that it is well. Don’t lose faith!
The work of “telling others the GOOD news” is assigned to all of us, in whatever field you are in, there will be no closure if “shining the light” is not the PRIMARY goal…
Reading your comment I think to myself about work place evangelism. May our relationships outside the church community bear fruit as we work to shine as light
Telling others the Good News:
“(…) the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and having of faith in our Lord Jesus. (…)”
3 verbs keep the secret of our victory.. The most important necessity as human beings.. Because God made a way to rescue and save all of us.. But we need to seek 3 verbs daily i. our lives:
1. To repent;
2. To turn to
3. To have
Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior, I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
