Day 25

Who Are Your Friends?

And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

James 2:23 NLT

“But as for you, Israel my servant,
Jacob my chosen one,
descended from Abraham my friend,

Isaiah 41:8 NLT

O our God, did you not drive out those who lived in this land when your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land forever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?

2 Chronicles 20:7 NLT

    Andaza says:

Three scriptures where Abraham is explicitly called God’s friend. If every good and perfect gift comes from God then friendship with God should be our goal. Laying such a firm foundation will serve us well. How do we do this? I guess “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” is where we must begin. James writes “draw bear to God and He will draw near to you”

    Kevin says:

In this world it’s funny how we always search for “status” friendships. We are always looking for that friend with status so we can name drop. “Hey the owner of the Jets is my friend!” Or hey I know that guy, he’s my friend. Thinking that this somehow elevates us. Imagine if we pursued a friendship with God this same way. If every good and perfect gift comes from Him anyway why wouldn’t we. Next time we think of name dropping who our friend is, what if we name dropped being friends with The Most High instead.
