Grace: God is a God of Purpose

“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:21

In today’s verse the purpose of Jesus was made very clear. His foster parents were instructed to name Him Jesus. The extended meaning of His name and purpose is to “Save people from sin.”  Without the grace of God sin would have us totally mangled and begging for dear life. Without God’s intervention in our lives we will live a life of self abuse not knowing what our purpose is. In Christ we find that Divine purpose is an Act of Grace.
