The Fruit of the Spirit

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, ²¹ envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. ²⁴ And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:19-25

The fruit of the Spirit is the evidence of a walk with and in the Spirit of God. It is the direct opposite of waking in the flesh (sinful living). The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives does not mean God will force us to do His will. We have to yield ourselves to His prompting. It has nine parts to make a whole sum.

Prayer Points

• Thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit
  
• Pray that you will become more aware of His presence, prompting and fellowship in your life
  
• Pray that the Church will host the presence of the Spirit for revival.
  

Sample Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank you for your Holy Spirit sent to be our comforter, teacher and guide. Today, I come before your throne of mercy. I ask that you work on and in me to will and do of your good pleasure. Teach me and help me to demonstrate in my daily living the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

I pray for the church of God to become more like you everyday. Where we are blindsided by old habits open our eyes that we may see and understand how far we may be from what your ideals are. I pray for my brothers and sisters that we may all grow up into you in all things.

Thank you for doing what I or others cannot do for ourselves.
