Amazing God: Recalibration of Value
Scripture Text: Please read Romans 12:1-21 and note what the Spirit points out as you read.
Welcome to Day 8. Your youth is renewed, and you will mount up with wings as eagles in Jesus’ name.
Value Redefined
As followers of Jesus, we cannot live as the world lives. Peter writes about how we have been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light: “…you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” Our values must reflect Christ and nothing less.
As members of the fallen race of Adam, when we come into this glorious union with God the Father through Jesus Christ, adopted into His family, we have to learn how to live according to His will. There is often a wrestle with what we want and what He wants. However, the more we yield ourselves willingly to Him, the more our lives reflect Jesus Christ. Peter valued his fishing life as it was how he made a living. In Luke 5:1-9, having fished all night and catching nothing, Jesus urged him to cast his net again. This didn’t make sense to him as an expert fisherman. He only agreed because of the influence of the doctrine of Christ. Remember, many, including Peter, “were astonished” (amazed) by Jesus’ doctrine. He obeyed and caught such an enormous trove of fish. What was the result of this experience? It was a total recalibration of value for him. The account: “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” for he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken, and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.” These early disciples’ experience with Jesus led to a change of mind, abandoning one value ideal for a far greater one.
Set Your Mind On Things Above
The renewing of our mind leads to the transformation of our lives, for “as a man thinks, so is he.” Peter and his colleagues had experienced something more significant in value with Jesus than ever. And they left all they valued to follow Him. Paul writes to the Romans pleading for a renewing of the mind as the catalyst for true and lasting transformation. This year, we need to submit to the surgical operation of the Holy Spirit that He may recalibrate our value to align with His. God has a way better plan for you than you can ever imagine. Paul advises, “Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. ” The way to do that is “looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.”
Host His Presence
Let Us Pray Using The Model Jesus Taught
Our Father In Heaven, Hallowed Be Your Name
Psalm 139:1-10. Father in Heaven, we praise your Holy name today and always in Jesus’ name. Use the words in the scriptures to exalt the Father. He longs to hear our worship.
Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done On Earth As It Is In Heaven
Romans 12:1-2. It is the will of God that we present our bodies to God for spiritual surgery. Let us pray that each of us experiences our Heavenly Father’s surgical hands. Pray for non-conformity to the way of the world. Pray for our children, the youth, and young adults that they will serve the Lord and forsake the world’s temptations. Pray that we set our minds on things above, always looking unto Jesus. Pray for new believers struggling between the past life and life in Christ.
Give Us This Day our Daily Bread…
John 6:51, Deut. 8:3, Daniel 9:21-22. Jesus is the bread we must eat daily as we meditate on the word of God. Pray for fresh revelation today. Claim the divine power and strength of God to walk in His authority. Pray for the Word to create the miraculous deposits of divine virtue in you, His church, and all His children. Pray for New believers to be firm in Jesus.
And Forgive Us Our Debts As We Forgive Our Debtors…
Matthew 5:23. We are bombarded daily with opportunities to harbor hatred and resentment toward others. Lord, grant us the grace to walk free from unforgiveness.
And Do Not Lead Us Into Temptation But Deliver Us From The Evil One…
2 Thess. 3:2, 2 Cor. 11:25 Pray for deliverance from unreasonable people, wicked people, and false Christians. Make declarations as applicable, knowing that in the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and tongue confess that He is the Lord.
For Yours Is The Kingdom And The Power And The Glory Forever. Amen!
Close your session with praise for Him, Who is King and Lord forever.
