Welcome to 2025, The Year of The Amazing God, and 14 days of fasting with prayer. For those joining in the fast for the first time, relax, be firm of mind, and understand that this is always like most things we attempt for the first time: a matter of the mind. The good news is also that we have the grace of God. May His grace be with us all these next few days. Glory!
A Doctrine (Teaching) Remarkably Astonishing
There has never been any teacher like Jesus Christ. His teachings for the three and one-half years of ministry on earth are still, many a time, the center of human discourse. Wars have been fought, and entire populations have been displaced, tortured, jailed, deprived, and killed throughout history because of Jesus. And yet, many more are coming to His saving knowledge every day. Haters who revile, as well as those who love Him as Saviour and Lord, cannot discount the fact that no one can run away from His influence. In our text, the people listening to Him for the first time in a synagogue setting left the meeting “astonished at His teaching.” Why? The scriptures say: “He taught them as one having authority, not as the scribes.” Merriam-Webster’s dictionary shows “amazed” and “astonished” as synonyms. The NLT version uses the word “amaze.d”
What we are taught is the foundation of life and how we live continually. Terrorists become so because they were taught a doctrine of hatred and the destruction of non-believers. Those who live to do good in God’s eyes (Ephesians 2:10) will do so and do well at it because they were so taught. Is that you? The Church is Christ’s body on earth, and the local assembly you congregate at, and mine at The Joy Fountain here in Winnipeg must strive to follow Jesus’ teachings. We must continually be “astonished” at the new and refreshed revelation His Holy Spirit brings us. May our teaching be refreshed and empowered with authority from the Lord of Heaven Himself. Amen!

- Ps. 147. Give thanks to God for the year 2025 and for all that He has in store for you and His church.
- Matt. 6:9. Hallow (honor and respect greatly) His name. He is our Strength.
- Matthew 6:10, John 14:26. Pray that the Holy Spirit guides and teaches us according to Jesus’ words. Is there an area you are asking the Lord for clarity? You have the Holy Spirit. Ask for His help and wisdom. Ask for a humble heart to follow the teachings of Jesus.
- Matt. 6:11, Matt. 4:4. Pray and declare every need met this year in Jesus’ name. Also, pray for the most critical need that the bread of heaven feeds us today.
- Matt. 6:12. Give God praise for the grace to forgive others and to forgive yourself as well. Stop looking in the rearview mirror if you are that person.
- Matt. 6:13b, Luke 10:17-19. Pray for God to deliver us from every plan of satan. Pray for wisdom and discernment this year.
- Matt. 6:13c, Revelation 4:9-11. Praise Him for His Kingdom, Power, and Dominion are forever. Glory Hallelujah!
