Day 16

Deeper for Souls

Do You Love People?

If you draw nearer to Jesus you will desire to see the salvation of souls. The Lord desires for all of humanity to be saved because God is love. The scriptures also say: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” For the fact that God sent Jesus into the world to save sinners, it is impossible to truly draw near to Him and not share in what is on His heart for the human race.

According to the Angel who appeared to Joseph, when he was considering putting Mary away quietly, he stated that Jesus’ name means Saviour: “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

If you love Jesus, if you draw near to Him, you will love people because He loves people. He came for people!

Peter’s Pentecost Day Message

Peter was one of Jesus’ disciples. He preached one message on the day of Pentecost in response to the mockery of a select few who said they were drunk with wine upon hearing the 120 speak in several tongues. His message led to the baptism of 3,000 people. I call that super amazing.

40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 2:40-42 NKJV

On another occasion, 5,000 souls were baptized. See Acts 4:4.

You will love people like Jesus loved people. You will not tolerate religious people just like Jesus rebuked the Pharisees in His day.

Share The Gospel

The devil is the primary enemy who works in people, government, educational, and powerful corporate structures with the one specific goal of dissuading us from sharing the Gospel which is the answer to human problems.

In his first letter from a Roman prison, Paul made a declaration to the Christians in Rome as well as those in the faith of Jesus Christ. Bear in mind that Rome was the capital of the most powerful empire in the world at that time. Paul knew that this was where world culture was being crafted and exported. Everybody looked up to Rome. Rome in AD 56 thereabout was a cauldron of iniquity just like our world powers today. It was to that pompous, proud, snotty, and wealthy for nothing first century Rome, where Paul knew that the gospel would be most derided that He made his famous declaration. Let’s hear Paul:

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Romans 1:16-17 NKJV

Even in a Roman prison with certain death awaiting him, Paul did not relent in His passion to see people coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. By his “I am not ashamed” declaration Paul attacked the very weapon the enemy uses to kill our passion and that is shame. Today as you read this and participate in this long fast I am praying that the Lord will remove any stigma that we may have allowed the enemy to place on the gospel. May we never be ashamed of the truth and may we be led by the Spirit to the places and people where there is hunger for Jesus’.

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

Luke 15:7 NKJV

Make a decision and a plan to help one or more people to Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Ask the Lord today. You can do it! He will help you.

May our hearts beat for new believers as the Saviour’s heart. say with me “I am not ashamed of the Gospel.”

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
