The Church Community
Mark 3:13-15, Acts 9:31, Matthew 28:19
Community
- A community is a group of people who have a particular characteristic in common. We are a Christian community. We have Jesus and His purpose in common
- Jesus was crystal clear about creating a community of disciples. Anything less is not desirable Matthew 28:19-20
As a community we have two primary assignments;
1. Primary assignment #1
- The first assignment of the church community as Jesus stated was to be a house of prayer. Matthew 21:13
- Prayer is incomplete without the trio of giving, praying and fasting
- A praying community will
- Endure the pruning process John 15:2
- Love and serve one another
- Find alignment with what heaven wants
- Most likely not miss divine timing
- Have the right message to the right people at the right time. Acts 10, Acts 19:1-6
- Have power to do God’s work. Ephesians 2:10
2. Primary assignment #2
- The twin assignment for the Church is to be an outreach focused community
- The Church must always be outreach focused for God’s Kingdom to continue expanding
- An outreach focused Church will:
- Confront and defeat satanic powers. Mark 6:12-13
- Will draw on and use God’s power
- Have many baptisms
- Be fulfilled and have overflowing joy
