Day 4

The Higher Ground of Ministry Service

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:4-8

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:16-17

Jesus was very clear about the purpose of the Holy Spirit. He came to empower us, teach us, guide us into all truth, show us things to come and also to bring comfort. On His last day on earth Messiah talked about the primary responsibility of the Holy Spirit and that is to empower the believer and the church as a whole. One prayer that is good for today for our christian gatherings is “come Holy Spirit” He is the third person of the Godhead and never seeks to draw attention to Himself. He seeks to glorify Christ. The difference between a joyful Christian life and experience in Christ, a fulfilling service to God as a paid or volunteer church worker is the presence and the work of the Holy Spirit in you.

Prayer Points

  1. Lord Jesus thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to dwell in and with us. Thank you for the work of the Spirit in me.
  2. Holy Spirit come and work as you will in our lives, in our families and in our churches. Bring us to Higher Ground.
  3. The scriptures only come alive when the Holy Spirit illuminates them.
