Day 10: Canada Needs Jesus

We are privileged to live in Canada. According to the Migration Policy Institute Canada has consistently ranked among the top 10 destinations for skilled and unskilled immigrants from the developed world.

The quality of life index as measured by numbeo.com also puts Canada consistently among the top 25 places to live in the world with a very high index at 160.36. I have often remarked following a TV Interview by a mid-eastern diplomat I watched a few years ago that the world is divided into conflict and comfort zones. Canada is in one of the world’s comfort zones. Raising a family, lower child poverty rates and the opportunities that children have for education, healthcare, sports, and recreation choices are abundant. As Christians, we must not take any of these for granted. We must remain thankful to God.

As humans have developed, we find that in every generation the most developed of nations or should I say the most comfortable and by direct implication powerful nations, usually very wealthy and militarily powerful are the ones who always begin the quest to cast off God’s restraints. (Read Psalm 2:1-6 for reference.) This is always more than often reflected in steep government-sponsored culture shifts over time. Hedonism is promoted and becomes a national religion, sin is redefined, science is manipulated, up becomes down, down becomes up and in the name of being progressive, God and followers of Christ are mocked openly. Furthermore, righteousness is defined by other parameters such as one skin tone being righteous and another sinful, and on and on. The history of the world shows that the most powerful nations who once ruled through their system of empires have always thumbed their noses in the face of God in this very manner. During the time of Noah, the people of the earth eagerly cooperated with fallen angels to begin a superhuman hybrid race.

Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose…There were giants on the earth in those days…Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 6:1-5

Noah was the only one whose clan was spared the ugliness and catastrophe of the time. The scriptures record that “Noah found grace in God’s sight.”

Throughout time, powerful nations and people groups have fallen to the very same temptations of pride such as Assyria and Babylon, Persia, Cush, The Medes, Egypt, and a litany of others. They in their height of prominence also mocked God to their downfall. In most recent modern history, Adolf Hitler attempted to conquer the world through the rise of the Third Reich which lasted from 1933 to 1945. His doctrine repeated the same historical patterns of state-sponsored lies, mockery of God and His statutes, racial prejudice and division, and an attempt to be some kind of deity. This led to the second world war which lasted for 5 painful years before his inordinate ambition came to a bitter end with casualties running into several millions of lives. In addition, six million Jews were murdered for just being Jewish.

Canada, a G7 country from the 1950s has seen a rapid and radical decline from Christian values to a very secular society. Pride of accomplishment appears to have consumed us. We were one of the first to allow parents to decide what the sex of a child is or to simply not put birth sex on the birth certificate. Sex is no longer determined at birth but much later. The parent may decide from among an ever-increasing gender list. Gender fluidity is just one example out of several others showing our rabid and unconscionable attempt as a society to erase any mention or knowledge of God. Please note that gender fluidity is a direct assault on God’s original model for creation which is male and female.

Is God interested in Canada? Certainly, because scripture shows us that God watches over the nations and will judge both in real-time when He so decides and in the end all the nations and peoples of the world according to their deeds.

The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries.

Psalm 110:5-6 NKJV

Since 2019/20 and the entrance of Covid 19, Canada has not been the same. The last time the nation was this divided was when same-sex marriage was adopted federally. This time Vaccine mandates and the lack of transparency and the suppression of thought and speech have brought the country to a cliff. We need Jesus more than ever. We need to cry out for the RANDOM ARROW. More on that and what we must do even as we fast and pray in the remaining days ahead. The Church in Canada must arise to meet this challenge in prayer. We can contribute from our corner and trust God to bless our effort.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

  1. Let us praise God for the way He leads us to find ancient truth from His word applicable for life today.
  2. Thank God for your family and for day 10 of the fast
